Anti-Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement

Mackie Myers Ltd is committed to preventing acts of modern slavery and human trafficking from occurring within its business and supply chain, and imposes the same high standards on its suppliers. The following statement details the measures we take to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in line with the Modern Slavery Act of 2015. 


Structure of the organisation

Mackie Myers Ltd is a growing professional recruitment business in the finance and accounting sector. The business recruits interim, contract and permanent jobs for clients in a range of sectors. It is a privately owned business that employs 15 people and operates mostly within the UK. To find out more about the nature of our business, please visit our website: https://mackiemyers.co.uk/. In order to help clients recruits jobs and candidates find work, we work with a range of local suppliers to provide various technology, marketing and finance services. Our commitment to these products and services are reviewed annually. 


Policies

As part of our commitment to combating modern slavery, we have implemented the following policies:

All employees are free to choose to work for their employer and to leave the company upon reasonable notice. They are provided with a clear contract of employment which complies with local legislation. 

All of our candidates voluntarily apply for roles and, in line with the Employment Agencies and Employment Business Regulations 2003, we only represent candidates who have given their permission for us to do so. 

Any form of discrimination, victimization or harassment on any grounds including, but not limited to, marital or civil partnership status, sex, race, disability, sexual orientation, having or not having dependents, religious belief or political opinion, age and offending background are strictly prohibited. 

We regularly review our small range of professional suppliers and we take steps to review the business and make them aware of our policies, ensuring they adhere to the same high standards before entering into any contracts. 

These policies have been developed by the senior leadership of the business and reviewed annually. 


Due diligence

As part of our efforts to monitor and reduce the risk of slavery and human trafficking occurring within our supply chains, we have adopted the following due diligence procedures:

Mackie Myers ensures strict compliance checks are carried out for all candidates it supplies. We verify the identity of each worker and their right to work before supply commences. 


We have in place a review process to undertake due diligence on our supply chain network to ensure compliance with legislative obligations which forms part of our contractual supplier relationship. 

All employees have access to dedicated communication channels through which they may voice any concerns and report any malpractice confidentially and in good faith. 


Training

All staff within Mackie Myers are expected to comply with all laws and act in accordance with local guidelines and regulations. We invest in educating our staff to recognise the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chains. Through our induction and training methods, employees are encouraged to identify and report any potential breaches of our anti-slavery and human trafficking policy. Should any employees need any additional information or support with regard to human trafficking, forced labor and slavery this will be provided. 


This statement is made in accordance with section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes Mackie Myers Ltd’s slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year commencing April 2023. This statement was approved by the Board.
