We are partnering with an innovative, venture-backed advanced manufacturing business that is preparing for its next phase of growth following a successful spin-out. With breakthrough technology addressing major sustainability and climate challenges, the business is now seeking its first strategic Chief Financial Officer to join the executive leadership team.

This is an opportunity to shape the financial foundations of a high-growth organisation from an early stage. Working closely with the CEO, Board and investors, you will lead fundraising activity, build robust financial infrastructure and provide commercial insight, while remaining comfortable rolling up your sleeves in a business where the finance function is still being established.

Initially, you will operate as a hands-on CFO before building out the finance team, with the first key hire expected to be a Financial Controller.

The Role

As CFO, you will be responsible for both strategic leadership and operational finance, including:

• Leading Series A and subsequent fundraising processes, working closely with existing and prospective investors.
• Acting as a key strategic partner to the CEO and Board, helping shape commercial and growth decisions.
• Developing financial models, budgets, forecasts and long-term business plans.
• Managing cash flow, runway and working capital in a capital-efficient environment.
• Establishing robust financial controls, reporting and governance suitable for a scaling business.
• Producing high-quality management information and Board reporting.
• Supporting grant funding, R&D tax claims and other non-dilutive funding opportunities where appropriate.
• Working alongside technical and operational teams to understand manufacturing economics, scaling requirements and commercial performance.
• Building and leading the finance function, including the recruitment of a Financial Controller as the business grows.
• Supporting future international expansion, strategic partnerships and potential M&A opportunities as required.

About You

We're looking for an ambitious CFO who enjoys building businesses rather than simply operating mature finance functions.

You are likely to bring:

• Previous experience as a CFO or Finance Director within a venture-backed, high-growth or scale-up environment.
• Demonstrable experience leading equity fundraising, ideally through Series A and beyond.
• Exposure to advanced manufacturing, deep-tech, industrial technology, climate-tech, clean technology or related sectors.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence strategy and challenge constructively.
• Hands-on capability and willingness to manage day-to-day finance while building a function from the ground up.
• Excellent financial modelling, forecasting and investor communication skills.
• A professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Experience of building teams and developing finance capability in a scaling organisation.
