We are supporting them in the recruitment of a Director of Finance, a senior leadership position responsible for shaping financial strategy, ensuring robust governance, and driving long-term sustainability across the institution.
 
The Role

This is a high-profile opportunity for an experienced finance leader to take ownership of the organisation’s financial direction and performance. Reporting to the CEO/Principal and working closely with the Board, you will provide strategic insight while ensuring strong financial control and operational excellence.

You will oversee all aspects of financial management, from strategic planning and budgeting to compliance and reporting, while leading and developing a high-performing finance team. The role is critical in supporting informed decision-making and enabling the organisation to achieve its strategic ambitions.
 
Main Duties
  • Lead the development and delivery of the organisation’s financial strategy
  • Provide financial insight and challenge to the Executive Team and Board
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning
  • Ensure robust financial controls, compliance, and risk management frameworks
  • Lead the preparation of statutory accounts and external reporting requirements
  • Oversee month-end and year-end close processes and financial reporting cycles
  • Ensure all financial systems and processes are efficient, scalable, and fit for purpose
  • Manage treasury, cash flow, and investment strategies
  • Lead, develop, and mentor the finance team
  • Support strategic initiatives, including growth, transformation, and capital projects
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and governance requirements
 
The Successful Candidate
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Significant experience in a senior finance leadership role
  • Proven track record of strategic financial planning and organisational impact
  • Experience operating in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment
  • Strong understanding of governance, risk, and compliance frameworks
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at Board level
  • Demonstrable experience leading and developing high-performing teams
  • Experience within education, public sector, or not-for-profit environments is desirable
