The Role

To lead the statutory financial reporting and tax functions, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency across the organisation. You’ll manage the payroll and capital accounting teams, coordinate inputs into statutory accounts, and maintain tight balance sheet control. This is a key leadership role within the finance team, reporting to the Head of Financial Control.

Main Duties
  • Deliver statutory and regulatory reporting, including year-end audit coordination
  • Lead tax compliance across VAT, P11D, PSA, and corporation tax
  • Manage payroll operations and pension reporting
  • Oversee capital accounting and maintain the fixed asset register
  • Ensure robust financial controls and accurate ledger data
  • Support continuous improvement and process optimisation
  • Provide coaching and development to team members
The Successful Candidate
  • Professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA)
  • Strong knowledge of FRS102, SORP, and UK tax regulations
  • Proven experience in statutory accounts preparation and audit liaison
  • Skilled in financial controls, reconciliations, and capital accounting
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Experience in housing, charity, or public sector finance (desirable)
  • Advanced Excel and ERP system proficiency
