We are seeking an experienced and strategic
Financial Controller to lead a high-performing finance team and oversee the organisation’s financial operations.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this is a senior leadership role responsible for financial control, reporting, compliance, and driving process improvements. You will play a key role in supporting business growth through robust financial insight, strong governance, and effective team leadership.
Key Responsibilities Financial Control & Compliance - Oversee all financial accounting operations, ensuring strong internal controls and compliance with accounting standards
- Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Manage statutory accounts preparation and lead the external audit process
- Oversee taxation matters, including VAT, PAYE/NI, and Corporation Tax submissions
- Ensure robust governance, financial policies, and risk management processes are in place
Reporting & Analysis - Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting, including management accounts and board-level reporting
- Produce cashflow forecasts and maintain regular cash reporting
- Develop financial dashboards and performance insights to support decision-making
- Partner with senior stakeholders to provide actionable financial analysis
Strategic Business Partnering - Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, supporting budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning
- Provide financial insight to support growth initiatives and key business decisions
- Collaborate with wider finance functions to improve financial visibility and performance
Systems & Process Improvement - Lead finance system improvements, including implementation of new ERP systems
- Drive automation and efficiency across finance processes
- Continuously enhance financial controls and reporting capabilities
Leadership & Team Development - Lead, coach and develop a finance team
- Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability and continuous improvement
- Manage team workload, performance, and professional development
About You Skills & Experience - Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or ACMA)
- Proven experience in a Financial Controller or similar senior finance role
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience of statutory reporting and audit
- Experience managing and developing high-performing finance teams
- Advanced Excel and strong financial systems knowledge (ERP experience preferred)
- Strong cashflow management, budgeting, and forecasting experience
- Ability to influence and partner with senior stakeholders
