Our Client
Our client is a unique charitable organisation with a rich heritage, strong community presence and an ambitious vision for the future. Through its work across the arts, culture and public engagement sectors, it delivers lasting social impact. Following the award of a grant to support strategic development, the organisation is seeking a commercially minded finance leader who has a wealth of knowledge in investments, to provide Board-level advice, strengthen financial sustainability and support the next stage of its evolution.
The RoleThis consultancy-style Fractional CFO role will work closely with the CEO and Board of Trustees to provide strategic financial leadership and insight. Focusing on long-term sustainability rather than day-to-day operations, you will assess the organisation's current financial position, develop practical recommendations, strengthen financial governance, and establish robust frameworks to support future growth, resilience and impact.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Provide strategic financial leadership to the CEO and Board of Trustees, helping shape the organisation's long-term sustainability, growth and impact.
- Develop a five-year financial strategy, forecasting model and income diversification plan to support future decision-making and financial resilience.
- Lead the review of the organisation's investment and property portfolios, including the procurement of a new wealth management provider and recommendations on asset optimisation.
- Strengthen financial governance, reporting and Trustee oversight, providing clear advice and challenge to support effective decision-making.
- Work alongside external finance providers and advisers, delivering pragmatic, scalable recommendations appropriate to a growing charitable organisation.
The Successful Candidate - Must have experience advising on investments, wealth management and asset portfolios.
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with experience operating at CFO, Finance Director or Fractional CFO level.
- Proven track record within charities, not-for-profit or other purpose-led organisations.
- Strong expertise in strategic financial planning, forecasting, governance and Board-level stakeholder management.
- Commercially minded, pragmatic and able to deliver scalable solutions within a relatively small organisation.
- Confident working independently while collaborating with Trustees and external advisers.
What's on Offer? - Opportunity to make a lasting impact within a respected charitable organisation during a pivotal period of strategic development.
- Flexible consultancy engagement with a blend of remote working, occasional on-site meetings and attendance at key Trustee meetings.
- Predominantly strategic, advisory-led work with direct exposure to the CEO and Board of Trustees.
- Outside IR35 engagement, offering the flexibility to work via a limited company.
- Part-time engagement structure to be agreed, with work delivered on an hourly or half-day basis.
