Group Financial Accountant

Summary
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong Group Accountant to join a complex organisation and play a key role in delivering high?quality consolidated reporting. You’ll support monthly and quarterly group accounts, statutory reporting, regulatory submissions, and technical accounting under FRS 102 and the Housing SORP.
This role is ideal for a qualified accountant with strong consolidation experience, excellent analytical skills, and the confidence to work with senior stakeholders.
Our Client Our client is a large, values?led organisation operating across a diverse portfolio with a turnover of around £1bn. They offer a collaborative environment where financial insight and strong governance directly support strategic delivery.
The Role You will support group consolidation, regulatory and statutory reporting while providing technical accounting advice to ensure robust, compliant financial information.
  • Assist in monthly and quarterly group consolidations
  • Prepare analysis and commentary for consolidation adjustments
  • Support annual group financial statements and regulatory returns
  • Provide technical accounting guidance under FRS 102 and Housing SORP
  • Maintain group controls, reconciliations, and audit readiness
Main Duties You will contribute to accurate group reporting, effective controls, and continuous improvement.
  • Prepare consolidation journals, elimination entries and intercompany reconciliations
  • Produce group performance analysis and variance commentary
  • Support group budgets, forecasts and overhead reporting
  • Assist with regulatory and lender submissions, including quarterly surveys and trading statements
  • Prepare technical papers, disclosures and audit documentation
  • Maintain process notes and support consistent group reporting standards
The Successful Candidate
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with strong consolidation and reporting experience
  • Solid understanding of FRS 102 and Housing SORP
  • Confident preparing statutory accounts, supporting audits and explaining technical matters
  • Strong analytical, reconciliation and problem?solving skills
  • Highly organised, comfortable working to tight timetables and engaging senior stakeholders
  • Advanced Excel and good working knowledge of financial systems (Power BI desirable)
