The Role
The Head of Finance will oversee the organisation’s finance function and work closely with senior leadership to ensure robust financial management and insight to support continued growth and innovation.
Key points:
• Lead the finance function and manage core financial operations
• Provide strategic financial insight to the leadership team
• Support research and development activities through effective financial planning
• Develop financial reporting, controls, and processes
• Partner with operational and commercial teams to drive financial performance
Main Duties
The postholder will ensure the finance function operates effectively while providing the strategic insight required to support a research-led MedTech business.
Key duties include:
• Lead and develop the finance team, overseeing day-to-day financial operations
• Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting
• Provide financial insight and analysis to support business strategy and investment decisions
• Support funding activities, grant management, and R&D investment tracking where relevant
• Strengthen financial controls, governance, and compliance
• Partner with senior leadership to support business planning and growth initiatives
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting, and operational efficiency
The Successful Candidate
A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with strong leadership capability and experience operating within a dynamic, innovation-driven environment.
• Experience leading a finance function or operating in a senior finance leadership role
• Strong financial planning, reporting, and commercial analysis skills
• Experience in life sciences, MedTech, healthcare, or research-led organisations is advantageous
• Ability to work closely with senior stakeholders and translate financial insight into strategic decisions
• Proactive, hands-on, and comfortable operating in a growing and evolving business
