Our Client

Mackie Myers have partnered with a growing and evolving organisation to appoint a Head of Finance into their collaborative and developing finance function.

This is a key hire at an exciting point of change, as the business continues to strengthen its operational finance capabilities and embed more robust processes across reporting, compliance, and procurement.

The Role

The Head of Finance will take ownership of the organisation’s core finance operations, overseeing financial reporting, compliance, tax, and transactional finance, while acting as a trusted partner to the Head of Financial Planning & Systems.

This role requires a technically strong, calm and experienced finance professional who can bring structure, oversight, and maturity to the team. You will play a key role in improving processes, strengthening controls, and ensuring high quality financial information is delivered consistently.

Alongside this, you will lead and develop a small team, ensuring effective delegation, clear communication, and a supportive working environment. There is also scope to influence procurement processes, including ownership of the procure-to-pay cycle, as the organisation continues to align these activities within finance.

Main Duties
  • Oversee the production of accurate and timely financial reporting, ensuring strong controls and compliance
  • Take ownership of tax, statutory reporting, and financial compliance requirements
  • Lead the day-to-day running of transactional finance, including AP, AR, and core finance operations
  • Manage and continuously improve the month-end and year-end close processes
  • Partner closely with the Head of Financial Planning & Systems to ensure alignment between reporting, data, and financial insight
  • Provide oversight and improvement of the procure to pay process and wider finance operations
  • Develop, mentor, and support team members, driving effective delegation and performance
  • Strengthen internal controls and implement process improvements across finance
  • Support audit processes and act as a key point of contact for external stakeholders
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and maturity of the finance function
The Successful Candidate
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Strong technical background across financial reporting, controls, and compliance
  • Proven experience overseeing transactional finance and core finance operations
  • Experience managing and developing teams, with a collaborative and supportive leadership style
  • Ability to communicate clearly and build effective relationships with senior stakeholders
  • Comfortable operating in a developing or changing environment, bringing structure and stability
  • Strong attention to detail with a proactive and solutions-focused mindset
  • Exposure to procurement or procure to pay processes would be advantageous
  • Experience partnering with FP&A, data, or systems teams is beneficial
What’s on Offer?
