Summary
We are looking for an experienced Interim Finance Lead to join a small learning disability charity during a critical four-month transition. If you have a strong financial background, experience in mergers and organisational change, and an empathetic leadership style, this is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

Our Client
A London-based charity with a circa £2-3 million turnover, supporting young people with learning differences into employment and independent living. The organisation is entering a period of significant change following the departure of its Head of Finance & Operations. Strategic priorities include strengthening financial resilience, exploring merger and partnership options, and driving wider transformation initiatives.

The Role
  • Maintain continuity across finance and operations, including budgeting, reporting, year-end audit, cash flow, and controls
  • Ensure timely statutory and management reporting to the CEO and Trustees
  • Oversee governance, HR, property, and IT with support from internal staff and external providers
  • Lead early-stage merger and partnership discussions, including due diligence and financial analysis
  • Prepare viability assessments and briefing materials for CEO and Trustees
  • Support wider transformation projects, including fundraising, income diversification, and local authority funding negotiations
  • Contribute to restructuring plans and service reviews, ensuring changes are scoped, costed, and communicated effectively
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO during a period of intensive strategic activity
The Successful Candidate
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent experience
  • Strong financial and operational management credentials
  • Proven experience in mergers, integration, or organisational change within charity, education, or public sector
  • Ability to operate strategically while remaining hands-on in a small, fast-moving organisation
  • Excellent judgement, diplomacy, and communication skills
  • Empathetic approach to change management and stakeholder engagement
