Interim Financial Modeller
Location: Oxford, hybrid working with 1-2 days per week on site
Contract: Initial 4-6 week assignment, with strong potential to extend

We are working with a growing business that requires an experienced
Interim Financial Modeller to support a busy finance function during a period of increased project activity.
This is a hands-on modelling role suited to someone who can quickly understand requirements, build clear and reliable models, and deliver accurate analysis for senior stakeholders. The initial assignment is expected to run for 4-6 weeks, although there is a strong chance it will continue beyond that due to the volume of work planned.
The role
You will be responsible for building, improving and running financial models to support decision-making across a range of projects and business areas. The work will include cash flow modelling, scenario analysis, sensitivity testing, data reconciliation and the improvement of existing Excel workbooks.
The role requires someone who can work independently, manage multiple requests, and produce models that are structured, transparent and easy for others to understand.
Key responsibilities
- Build and maintain financial models for project and business planning purposes.
- Create cash flow, forecast, scenario and sensitivity models.
- Translate commercial and finance requirements into practical modelling outputs.
- Review and improve existing Excel workbooks and supporting schedules.
- Reconcile data and check outputs for accuracy and consistency.
- Work with finance and operational stakeholders to confirm assumptions and inputs.
- Use Python where appropriate to automate repetitive tasks or improve data handling.
- Deliver accurate analysis within tight deadlines.
Candidate profile
- Strong financial modelling experience in a finance, corporate finance, project finance, infrastructure, transaction services, FP&A or investment-related environment.
- Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulae, structured workbook design and sensitivity analysis.
- Practical Python skills for data handling or automation would be useful.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Able to work at pace in a project-led environment.
- Comfortable working with senior finance stakeholders and non-finance teams.
- Able to pick up existing models quickly, improve them and produce dependable outputs.
A formal accounting qualification is ideal.
Candidates from finance or other quantitative backgrounds will be considered where they can demonstrate strong modelling capability.
