Interim Management Accountant Location: Suffolk (4-5 days per week in the office)
Contract: 3-6 months
Rate: Competitive day rate
The Opportunity: We are partnering with a well-established manufacturing business in Suffolk to appoint an experienced Interim Management Accountant on a 3-6 month contract. This is a hands-on role supporting the senior leadership team and providing high-quality financial reporting, forecasting and cash management during a busy period for the business.
Working closely with the Finance Director and wider leadership team, you will take ownership of the monthly reporting cycle, cash flow management and budgeting process, while providing meaningful financial insight to support commercial decision-making.
This role requires someone who is comfortable operating in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is happy to work collaboratively on site 4-5 days per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including detailed variance analysis and commentary for internal stakeholders and banking partners.
- Manage the company's cash flow, liquidity position and treasury activities, ensuring effective working capital management.
- Produce rolling cash flow forecasts and provide recommendations to optimise cash performance.
- Support the Finance Director and senior leadership team with strategic financial analysis, investment appraisals and business planning.
- Lead the budgeting process and develop rolling annual forecasts, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Prepare the trial balance and support the production of statutory accounts, acting as the key contact for external auditors throughout the audit process.
- Deliver insightful management information and financial analysis to support operational and commercial decision-making.
- Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying risks, opportunities and areas for improvement.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function, helping to strengthen financial controls and reporting processes.
- Partner with operational teams across the business to provide financial guidance and challenge where appropriate.
About You
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) or qualified by experience with significant management accounting expertise.
- Previous experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of cash flow management, budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.
- Experience preparing management accounts and supporting year-end audit processes.
- Commercially minded with excellent analytical and business partnering skills.
- Comfortable working in a hands-on environment with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple deadlines.
- Strong Excel skills and experience using ERP/accounting systems.
- Available to start at short notice.
