A leading household FMCG brand in North London is seeking an experienced

Credit Controller with strong rebates experience to join the finance team on a 6?month fixed?term contract. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast?paced commercial environment and understands the complexities of customer trading terms, promotional spend, and rebate reconciliation.

Key Responsibilities

Core Credit Control Duties
  • Manage the UK portfolio ensuring timely cash collection.
  • Monitor aged debt, proactively chasing overdue balances and reducing debtor days.
  • Allocate cash accurately and promptly, resolving unallocated or misallocated payments.
  • Review and approve customer credit limits in line with company policy, escalating risks where necessary.
  • Conduct regular account reviews to identify risks, disputes, or unusual trading patterns.
  • Maintain accurate customer master data, ensuring trading terms, contacts, and financial details are up to date.
  • Build strong relationships with key customers to support smooth financial operations and reduce disputes.
Rebates, Deductions & Promotional Spend
  • Manage the full lifecycle of customer rebates, including validation, calculation, accruals, and settlement.
  • Reconcile promotional spend, retrospective discounts, and volume?based incentives against customer trading terms.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies relating to deductions, short payments, and claims.
  • Maintain accurate rebate trackers, ensuring all agreements are documented and auditable.
  • Partner with Sales and Commercial Finance to ensure rebate terms are correctly interpreted and applied.
Month?End, Reporting & Controls
  • Prepare month?end journals for rebates, accruals, and bad debt provisions.
  • Reconcile customer accounts and provide commentary on aged debt, deductions, and rebate balances.
  • Support internal and external audits with documentation, reconciliations, and evidence of controls.
  • Produce weekly and monthly KPI reports on cash collection, deductions, and outstanding claims.

Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience in FMCG credit control, with a strong focus on rebates, deductions, and promotional claims.
  • Excellent understanding of customer trading terms within grocery, wholesale, or convenience channels.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience working with ERP systems
  • SAP experience (preferred)
  • High attention to detail, strong numerical accuracy, and the ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Confident communicator able to partner with commercial teams and external customers.
