A high-growth business in the energy and infrastructure sector is seeking a commercially minded and forward-thinking Financial Controller to lead and mature its finance function. Reporting directly to the CEO, this is a strategic and hands-on role that blends financial leadership with operational execution.

This opportunity is ideal for an ambitious finance professional with the drive and capability to evolve into a future Finance Director, as the business scales and complexity increases.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the day-to-day finance function, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and management reporting.

Act as a strategic financial partner to the CEO, providing insight, challenge, and support on key commercial and investment decisions.

Own all aspects of financial governance, statutory compliance, tax, and audit.

Strengthen and streamline internal controls, financial processes, and systems in preparation for continued growth.

Develop and maintain robust reporting for the CEO, board, and potential investors/lenders.

Support capital planning, fundraising activities, and commercial negotiations as required.

Champion continuous improvement and the adoption of tools, automation, and data-driven decision-making across the business.

About You

Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with strong post-qualification experience.

Proven ability to manage and scale finance operations, ideally in growth-stage, project-based, or capital-intensive environments.

A strategic and commercial thinker, equally comfortable with high-level analysis and hands-on delivery.

Track record of improving systems, processes, and governance in a progressive, forward-looking way.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the confidence to challenge, influence, and collaborate across teams.

Ambition to grow into a CFO-level role as the company evolves.

What’s on Offer

Base salary of £80,000 to £100,000 plus incentives, depending on experience
