Reports to: Senior Finance Business Partner
Role Overview This role offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated Management Accountant to join a dynamic finance team supporting a major multi?year regeneration programme. Working closely with Finance Business Partners and senior leaders, you will provide high?quality financial insight, analysis, and advice to inform strategic and operational decision?making.
You will take ownership of financial planning and reporting across multiple directorates, covering programme and establishment budgets, capital expenditure, income streams, and future commercial activities. Your work will ensure that stakeholders have accurate, timely, and meaningful financial information to support long?term planning.
The role also plays a key part in maintaining strong financial controls and supporting the annual audit and statutory reporting processes, under the guidance of the Senior Finance Business Partner.
Key Responsibilities - Prepare and deliver monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analysis for a portfolio of properties
- Support financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting across directorates
- Analyse financial performance to inform strategic decisions and operational improvements
- Produce KPI reports and provide regular financial updates to senior management
- Monitor programme and capital expenditure, ensuring alignment with budgets
- Provide cost analysis, margin reporting, and cash flow forecasting
- Assist in the preparation of the annual budget, ensuring performance is clearly documented and understood
- Support the year?end audit process and contribute to the production of statutory accounts
- Maintain and enhance financial systems to improve accuracy, efficiency, and data integrity
- Work collaboratively with directorate leads to align financial plans with organisational objectives
- Ensure compliance with financial governance requirements and relevant accounting standards
- Contribute to the development of future commercial subsidiaries and funding strategies
Person Specification (Essential) - Part?qualified or fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent)
- Demonstrable experience in management accounting or finance business partnering
- Strong financial analysis and modelling capabilities
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Sage, Xero, or similar)
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Confident communicator able to explain complex financial information to non?financial stakeholders
- Proactive, solutions?focused approach with strong commercial awareness
Desirable - Experience within the public sector or capital project environments
- Understanding of grant funding, reserves management, and commercial subsidiaries
- Experience supporting annual audits and preparing statutory accounts
